Chaco Canyon: Remarkable Architecture From An Ancient People

In the middle of ancient Anasazi - called Chaco Canyon - rises an imposing natural structure called Fajada Butte. On a narrow rocky outcrop at the top of this mountain is a sacred site of the native individuals, which got the name "Sun Dagger" and exposed the shifting seasons to the astronomers of the Anasazi thousands of years back. Although the gorge was deserted more than 700 years ago for unknown reasons, the secrets of the dagger stay hidden to only a few. It discreetly marked the course of the seasons for numerous centuries, but lasted only 10 years before its discovery and was lost forever.

Chaco Culture: Pueblo Arroyo, Pueblo Bonito

The Pueblo Bonito increased four or five stories and most likely housed 1,200 people and was integrated in phases from around 850 to 1150 ADVERTISEMENT. The Chaco Canyon was the center of a successful culture, and the Chacao Culture National Historic Park, which preserves the remains of the ancient ChACO culture as well as the ruins of Hungo Pavi, lies about midway between Farmington and Albuquerque.Chaco Culture: Pueblo Arroyo, Pueblo Bonito 870561711877714934.jpg The main attraction of the park are the fascinating sandstone homes, however Pueblo Bonito as the center of the ancient world is a should - see on your own. Due to the desert - like the climate - the area is best seen in late summer and early fall, during the hottest time of the year and in winter season. The gorge is an essential place for the culture of the forefathers of Pueblik and consists of a number of petroglyphs which are marked on its walls. There is a petroglyphic path that leads from the top of Gallo Wash to the bottom of the canyon. Lastly, amongst the petroleum types on Gallos Wash are a couple of small niches and houses that were inhabited between 1150 and 1200 ADVERTISEMENT. It is thought that the architectural design embedded in the rock walls was affected by the populations of the north such as Mesa Verde. The kivas are keyholes - shaped and circular, suggesting a connection to the northern sites where they were common, and to Pueblik culture in basic. Fajada Gap is located south of Mesa and is among the most popular traveler destinations in Casa Rinconada Chaco Canyon. Fajadas Space is located at the southern end of Kivi 5, a keyhole - like KIVA of the Pueblik culture in Kiva 5. The instructional path starts at the car park of Casa Rinconada (see instructions listed below), where there is a car park with a sign for the Fajada Gap Interpretive Path. Those with limited time must just take the Tsin Kletsin Trail, which starts and climbs up south of Mesa at marker 10 in CasA. I choose to walk the loop by increasing the Tesa to the South Space and after that visiting Ts in Kletin.
