The objective is to have everyone drinking more water and other natural drinks by elevating the price of soda and other sugar-sweetened drinks. The aim of the research was to evaluate the state of community drinking water fountains and figure out if there is a distinction in access to fresh, operating drinking fountains based on racial or economic components. The research utilized a GPS app to collect data on existing water fountains in the city. Demographic data on race and earnings was then gathered using the US Census database. The research workers looked to use both data sets to figure out if demographics were associated to drinking water fountain access. Each water fountain and the demographics of its nearby area were reviewed to reveal whether the location of the fountains or their standard of maintenance revealed any correlation to income, race, or other factors. While the majority of the fountains were in working order, an alarming number were uncovered to be in a poor state of repairs.

Anglo-Saxon Grounds During the Norman Conquest

Anglo-Saxon Grounds During the Norman Conquest The arrival of the Normans in the second half of the eleventh century irreparably altered The Anglo-Saxon lifestyle. Engineering and gardening were skills that the Normans excelled in, trumping that of the Anglo-Saxons at the time of the occupation. But yet there was no time for home life, domesticated architecture, and adornment until the Normans had overcome the whole realm.Anglo-Saxon Grounds Norman Conquest 8127621559061990366.jpg Most often constructed upon windy summits, castles were fundamental constructs that permitted their occupants to devote time and space to offensive and defensive strategies, while monasteries were rambling stone buildings frequently placed in only the most fecund, broad valleys. Gardening, a peaceful occupation, was unfeasible in these unproductive fortifications. The early Anglo-Norman style of architecture is portrayed in Berkeley Castle, which is most likely the most unscathed example we have. The keep is said to date from William the Conqueror's time period. An enormous terrace encompasses the building, serving as an impediment to assailants attempting to excavate under the castle walls. On one of these parapets is a scenic bowling green covered in grass and enclosed by an aged hedge of yew that has been shaped into coarse battlements.

His know-how in designing landscapes and grottoes with built-in and imaginative water attributes began in Italy and with commissions in Brussels, London and Germany. The text, “The Principles of Moving Forces,” authored towards the end of his life in France, became the definitive writing on hydraulic mechanics and engineering. Replacing key hydraulic findings of classical antiquity, the publication also explains contemporary hydraulic technologies. The water screw, a mechanical method to move water, and invented by Archimedes, was highlighted in the book. An decorative water fountain with the sun heating the water in two containers hidden in a neighboring room was displayed in one illustration.
